I remember growing up in a very conservative West Indian culture driven society where playing an instrument or studying to be a musician or a singer was shunned upon and deemed as one that didn't have much intellectual value. Upon entering college, I remember telling a few of my friends and relatives that I wanted to become a professional musician and learn the business of the music industry, so I could be able to help others as well as manage my career as a then aspiring recording artist. I was told many times that music was not a prestigious career; and that my decision to pursue music as a professional career, held no contest to perhaps one that was studying to become a doctor, lawyer, and even a teacher. I am so grateful that I didn't go with societal or cultural norms, and I continued the path to learning, developing, and cultivating my passion and interest for music. Since the inception of the M.A.H.I. program, I have been able to re-ignite many individuals, challenged by the pressure of pursuing careers that have little compatibility with the passion of their creative and artistic minds. Many times, the stereotype has been that musicians and singers are not intellectual or smart beings. This video shows an insight into how playing a musical instrument benefits your brain in tremendous ways! If you are one in need of a little push into pursuing what you know in your heart is real, and that is music, then this video will empower you to continue on the path to becoming the best artistic you possible. Now go...and CREATE MUSICAL GREATENESS!
